About Us

Philanthropy

For this year, the Philippine Student Association is proud to announce we are partnering with the non-profit organization, Gawad Kalinga. Many of PSA’s members enjoy volunteering, and as an organization PSA is dedicated to giving back and serving the community. http://www.gk1world.com/home

''Gawad Kalinga,' translated in English means to 'give care,' is a Philippine-based movement that aims to end poverty by first restoring the dignity of the poor. GK began with a simple desire to give care and leave no one behind, and their mission is to end poverty for 5 million families by 2024.

Ate Kuya Ading

PSA Minnesota’s AKA Program connects little siblings, “Adings” (consisting mostly of Freshmen/Transfer students, but also for anyone interested) with older siblings, “Ates/Kuyas” (mostly upperclassmen or past participants), to form “Pamilyas”. These "Pamilyas" not only hang out together, but also help and mentor each other out, whether it be socially, academically or more.

The Philippine Student Association (PSA) is the oldest Asian-American student group that was established at the University of Minnesota. It traces its roots from the 1940's when the first Filipino students came to the University of Minnesota. The group strives to educate the whole community about the Filipino Culture through the relationships built within the organization.

FACT

"Filipino Americans Coming Together" is an annual fall Filipino culture and leadership-based conference.  Filipino student groups from universities from throughout the Midwest send students to the conference to collaborate with each other.  At the conference itself, there are various workshops and cultural presentations Friday night and throughout Saturday, aimed at raising awareness about Filipino and Filipino-American issues as well as empowering Filipino youth.  On top of all that, it is a great way to bond and make friends with PSA.
